Mentors & Friends of Mark Saenger

John Osborne

John Osborne

John P. Osborne, my long time mentor, friend and internationally known master artist; is seen here giving a demonstration. I really appreciate John for all his time and knowledge.
Thank you John

John Budicin

John Budicin

I'd been looking forward to taking a workshop with John Budicin for a long time. I found he was offering a workshop in Connecticut and signed up. He did not disappoint!

Ken Auster

Ken Auster

Ken Auster can really SLAP the paint on! He's not only a great painter, but a very good instructor as well. He made me feel that it's ok to paint like me!

Kevin MacPherson

Kevin MacPherson

What a pleasure it was to take a workshop with Kevin MacPherson.
His willingness to share his knowledge was great. I laughed so hard — he is quite the comedian.

Matt Smith

Matt Smith

It's hard to believe I’ve known Matt Smith since 1991, before his national recognition.
Matt’s plein air abilities are just incredible to watch in person.
I thank Matt for putting me on the right road from the start and he has kept me there even to this day!

Michael Karas

Michael Karas

When you look at a Michael Karas seascape, there’s only one thing you can say: WOW!
Long time friend and voice of knowledge, Karas has helped me to see that the answers to most problems you might run into are always right in front of you — you just have to learn to SEE.
Michael, I can’t wait to go fishing!

Ralph Oberg

Ralph Oberg

I loved the workshop I had taken with Ralph Oberg, he is a great wildlife and landscape painter.
I love the fact that he can explain things at your level. Ralph was a great instructor.

Bill Alexander & Buck Paulson

I always watched Bill Alexander on TV and loved his show. He is the father of the “wet on wet” method and had mentored Bob Ross.
I’ve taken several workshops with Buck and just love his seascapes. I invited him to do a workshop for my students and put him up at my home. What fun!
Buck is always warm and will help you when ever he can.

Thanks Buck!

Scott Christensen

Scott Christensen

I painted with Scott Christensen some years ago in Wyoming when I had just started to paint.
By the end of the week, I was so tired and frustrated, I new I would be in for a fight to understand how to paint. He's so focused on his craft that he ate, drank and breathed art. I loved it!

Bob Ross & Dana Jester

Bob Ross jokes around with Mark and Dana Jester

I studied the 'wet on wet' technique with the master Bob Ross in 1991.
I feel if it was not for Bob’s show on TV, I would never have started to paint.
I thank him for inspiring me and giving me the courage to put a brush to canvas.

Here Bob and Dana Jester, who is still a friend of mine today, joke around with me.

Personal Note From Bob Ross

Greater than any award, this little note from Bob is one of my most cherished accolades.
